  LeeAnn H. Barfield, PhD, DNP,  APRN-BC, CNE, FACHE

LeeAnn Barfield is a nationally certified adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner who has spent her entire 23-year nursing career in the acute care setting. She has worked as a direct patient care nurse, educator, nurse practitioner and administrator of a large operating room. As a nurse leader, she was an expert in productivity while preserving proficiency and a founding participant in Shared Governance to improve quality care delivery in a large health system; she was also responsible for educating a staff of over 115 using evidence-based practices while maintaining regulatory compliance. As a nurse practitioner, she provided care to complex and critically ill adults in various patient conditions and health care settings. Dr. Barfield teaches courses in the DNP core curriculum and within the acute care nurse practitioner major.

Dr. Barfield’s research interests include complex and critical care in adults, stroke outcomes, using technology and telehealth strategies for patient education to improve health outcomes and increasing rural patients’ access to health care. She is a Ph.D. candidate in nursing at Georgia State University, Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions.

 Ali Craig-Rodriguez, DNP, MBA, APRN, FNP-BC, DIPACLM

Ali Craig-Rodriguez is a nationally certified family nurse practitioner and lifestyle medicine professional who serves as FSU College of Nursing’s entrepreneur-in-residence and Jonas Nurse Leader Scholar. As a former president and chief operating officer of two nationally recognized clinical research organizations, Dr. Craig-Rodriguez is committed to advancing knowledge in leadership, entrepreneurship and health promotion in clinical practice.

Dr. Craig-Rodriguez leads the Lifestyle Medicine DNP and Lifestyle Medicine Post-Master’s Certificate Program.  Her current integrative health practice is focused on lifestyle and functional medicine, where she is dedicated to helping her patients identify the underlying triggers of their chronic illness, and with pharmacologic and evidence-based lifestyle approaches, assists them in restoring function and achieving optimal health.

 Elizabeth Markovich, DNP

Elizabeth Markovich is a family nurse practitioner certified with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.  Her master’s and Doctor of Nursing Practice degrees are both from Florida State University. She is also a certified functional medicine practitioner through the Institute for Functional Medicine. She has extensive experience in general family practice medicine and rheumatology. 

Dr. Markovich has a special interest in the treatment of hormone imbalance, thyroid problems, reducing heart disease and diabetes risk, digestive problems and pain.

 Kathleen Wilson, PhD, ARNP-C, FAANP

Kathleen Wilson is dually certified as a pediatric nurse practitioner and family nurse practitioner. She is also a clinical professor for the FSU College of Nursing. She has many years of experience in practice, and she has board certification in advanced diabetes management. As a diplomate with the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, she holds specialty certification as a lifestyle medicine professional. Over her more than 40 years as an APRN, she has held positions in nurse practitioner education, research and administration, along with extensive experience in chronic disease prevention and management and community program development. In addition to her AANP Florida (North) State Liaison role, she has served as the Region 1 director for the Florida Nurse Practitioner Network. She currently serves as the inaugural capital liaison supporting legislative efforts in Tallahassee for FNPN. She is a fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and a distinguished fellow of the National Academy of Practice.

Dr. Wilson considers herself a lifelong learner, as evidenced by her recent completion of the Lifestyle Medicine program through the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. Working in the field of chronic disease management has encouraged her to see opportunities to support her patients and professional colleagues in the science and implementation of health promotion and disease prevention through lifestyle medicine interventions to enjoy a life worth living.

 Jerri S. Edwards, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC

Jerri Edwards is a nationally dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). She has worked in a number of direct patient care settings including geriatric, psychiatric, and public health.  While completing her DNP at Florida State University, Jerri served as the Executive Community Health Nursing Director for the Florida Department of Health (DOH). During this time, she represented the DOH at the statewide emergency operations center where she assisted state agency leaders in the COVID response. Jerri provided guidance to Florida’s 67 county health departments and over 3,000 school health nurses. As a nurse practitioner, Jerri has provided care to patients with complex medical and psychiatric conditions, including patients in a forensic setting. Jerri is the PMHNP track coordinator. She also teaches classes in the DNP, PMHNP, and FNP curriculums.
