LeeAnn Barfield, PhD, DNP, APRN-BC, CNE, FACHE, is a nationally certified adult-gerontology nurse practitioner with more than two decades of experience caring for adults with complex and chronic medical conditions. Her clinical background spans acute and ambulatory care, with a strong focus on whole-person, evidence-informed management of cardiometabolic disease, endocrine disorders and other chronic health concerns.

At the FSU Health Lifestyle Medicine Clinic, Barfield sees adult patients seeking comprehensive care for chronic medical conditions, symptom-driven concerns and long-term health optimization. Her practice uses a collaborative, goal-oriented approach to develop individualized care plans that may include education, supportive strategies and medication or hormone therapy when appropriate, guided by each patient’s goals and stage of life.

In addition to her clinical role, Barfield serves as associate dean of practice innovation, nurse educator and health systems leader. She teaches in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program and supports the integration of innovative care models into clinical practice. Her professional experience includes leadership roles focused on quality improvement, clinical operations and interprofessional education.

Barfield’s scholarly interests center on helping patients better manage chronic conditions through education, technology and supportive care models, with a particular focus on stroke recovery and improving access to care in rural and underserved communities. She completed her PhD in nursing at Georgia State University’s Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions and received her DNP and APRN education at the University of South Alabama.
