The FSU Health Lifestyle Medicine Clinic is the nation’s first college-based, nurse practitioner-led lifestyle medicine clinic. Using both standard and functional medical, our clinic finds and treats the underlying cause of illness to help prevent chronic diseases.
The first clinic of its kind, the FSU Health Lifestyle Medicine Clinic combines the holistic approach of functional medicine with the expertise of nursing faculty. Our clinic comprises nurse practitioners and faculty members of the FSU College of Nursing. Together, these practitioners can address the root causes of many illnesses and provide a unique approach to care that combines standard medicine with lifestyle habits to treat and prevent sickness.

What is Lifestyle Medicine?
Lifestyle medicine uses evidence-based behavioral interventions to prevent, treat and manage chronic conditions. This specialty focuses on the role lifestyle choices have on holistic well-being, including nutrition, physical activity, stress management, restorative sleep, social connection and substance avoidance. Lifestyle medicine practitioners are health professionals who prevent, treat and reverse chronic disease through lifestyle change.
Why Nurse Practitioners?
Nurse practitioners provide critical support in addressing and managing patient’s needs. Nurse practitioners undergo additional education beyond registered nurses, giving them both valuable experience and specialized training. As a result, they provide expert patient-centered care that improves quality of life.
